Emergency Shelter
for Women & children

Families seeking assistance at our emergency shelter are typically at a crisis stage and require the compassionate care and support of our team.

Sue's Safe Haven Inc provides temporary shelter for women and children who are in need. We offer free lodging for up to 30 days, three meals a day, toiletries and clothing. Our mission is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for those who are in a difficult situation and need a place to stay.

We strive to create an atmosphere of compassion, hope, and acceptance for our guests, and to help them get back on their feet. We are committed to providing a refuge and a sense of security, so that all of our guests have the opportunity to heal and make a fresh start.

  1. Come to our Thrift Store at 630 Minnesota Ave M103 KCK 66101, during intake hours, starting at 9 am with a photo ID. The Emergency Shelter phone line is closed from 7pm to 9am. On the weekends and during inclement weather, the Emergency Shelter line is open all day.

  2. Call us at (913) 400-2980 ext. 101 at any time, and we will give you instructions on how to access our facility and to learn more about the services we provide.

We offer our services to all women over 17 regardless of race, color, creed, political affiliation, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation.

If you’re under the age of 17, a woman, or have dependent children, we recommend you call 211 from any phone to find shelter and other services. 211 is the United Way’s direct phone line for resources and information.  They have expertise and access to a wide range of housing options.  If you are a man over the age of 18, without dependent children living with you, they will very likely direct you back to us.  But if you are in any other demographic or special needs group, they have numerous options available for you. Call 211.

Our program is tailored to each individual's needs and provides the necessary tools and resources to ensure a successful transformation.
